Letters From A Porcupine

While still riding the success of their acclaimed 1993 self-titled debut, which achieved triple-platinum status, the bandmembers' lives crashed to a halt in 1995 when lead singer Shannon Hoon died of a cocaine overdose just 8 weeks after the release of their second album, Soup. Celebrated for their extraordinary live shows, Blind Melon toured extensively, playing with such acts as Neil Young, Soundgarden, and the Rolling Stones as well as at Woodstock '94, conquered Billboard radio charts, and flooded MTV's switchboard with requests for many of their songs including "No Rain," "Tones of Home," and "Galaxie.

Eighty-three minutes of a total Blind Melon experience, "Letters from a Porcupine" features extensive footage of many club performances from 1992 through Woodstock 94 and beyond (including shows at Chicago's Metro and New York's Irving Plaza and the Ritz), appearances on Late Show with David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, and segments of intimate performances from Canada's MuchMusic channel. It also includes behind-the-scenes recording of Soup with Andy Wallace, revealing glimpses of the band's life offstage and on the road, and a bonus track - "Toes Across the Floor," the last video Blind Melon ever made. The tape also contains performances of "Soup," an early version of "St. Andrews Hall," "No Rain (Ripped Away Version)," and "Soul One," one of their first songs, all tracks that appear exclusively on Nico.
